StorMagic

 

StorMagic SvSAN removes the need for a physical SAN in some of the world's most demanding environments by converting the disk, flash and memory of two servers into a virtual SAN. It meets the needs of typical edge computing deployments such as remote or branch offices and small datacenters that require a small IT footprint.   

It is a sweet spot solution for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) like retail stores, factories, warehouses, and even wind farms or oil rigs. In all of these deployments, SvSAN enables small hyperconverged clusters with an unrivaled level of simplicity and affordability. 

StorMagic SvSAN simplifies storage at the edge by turning the storage in HPE servers into highly available, shared storage.  SvSAN is a lightweight virtual SAN solution designed to deliver hyperconverged compute and storage infrastructure with two (or more) low-cost servers. It is uniquely optimized for cost effective, multi-site data management, enabling continuous, high-speed data access for business-critical applications.

The StorMagic solution through HPE Complete drastically improves the manageability of edge sites. With SvSAN, it is as easy to deploy and manage 1,000 highly available sites as it is to manage 1.   Paired with HPE servers, it is possible to create high performing on-site storage, at a surprisingly low price point, that eliminates the threat of unplanned downtime.

 

StorMagic is available as software purchased through the HPE Complete Program. StorMagic is licensed per node and not per edge site.  Each node in an edge site will require a license and support SKU per license.

The StorMagic Technical Services team will be responsible for responding, assigning a severity level to the call, and determining the service Severity Level acceptable to the Hewlett Packard Enterprise customer. The support request will be processed by StorMagic in accordance with the Severity Level agreed upon.

To configure StorMagic solutions through HPE Complete follow these steps (1 through 4):

Step-1: Determine the usable Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) capacity required for the installation

This is the amount of storage to be mirrored by the end user.  Licenses are offered in 2TB, 6TB, 12TB and unlimited TB. A license and accompanying support SKU is required for each VSA. A license/support SKU is required per each server.

Step-2: Determine the features required for the deployment

The Base SvSAN license provides all of the features necessary to deliver and manage highly available shared storage, while the Predictive Storage Caching SKU adds additional performance-enhancing features, the Data Encryption SKU adds security-enhancing data encryption, and the WaaS SKUs simplify maintenance.

Each SKU is for a given capacity of data you wish to manage with StorMagic and for the features needed (base or addition of predictive caching license and/or data encryption). Select the minimum capacity which exceeds the capacity determined in step 1.  StorMagic Software Perpetual SKU, Predictive Caching SKU, and Data Encryption SKU must include a same capacity Support and Maintenance SKU as listed in step 4b..The Advanced Platinum Support SKU is needed if you are including either the Predictive Caching SKU or the Data Encryption SKU. Also note, if you are ordering both Platinum Support and Advanced Platinum Support, then the term lengths must be identical. There is no mixing of term lengths allowed between these two support SKUs.
