All guest operating systems supported by the hypervisor.

Installation Server Requirements

The Installation Server must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Pentium 2GHz or higher
• 8 GB RAM
• 1 GB free disk space + storage for backup data
• Network with 100 Mbit/s or higher

Software Licensing

HPE VM Explorer is licensed by physical CPU sockets within hypervisor hosts that contain VMs to be backed-up. Each instance must be licensed with a Starter Pack, and additional CPU sockets can be purchased to meet your environment.

HPE VM Explorer Professional Edition Starter Pack includes the license to use (LTU) for 4 (four) CPU sockets.

HPE VM Explorer Enterprise Edition Starter Pack includes the license to use (LTU) for 6 (six) CPU sockets.

Either HPE VM Explorer Professional Edition Starter Pack or HPE VM Explorer Enterprise Edition Starter Pack is obligatory. Individual CPU Socket additions are applied on top of Starter Packs.

Licensing

Step 1 - Starter Packs

The Starter Pack license is the foundation of a HPE VM Explorer backup environment and is required in all installations.

Step 2 - Additional CPU Sockets

Examples

For an environment with 4 x hypervisor hosts, each with 2 x physical CPU sockets (8 sockets total):

Professional Edition: 1 x Professional Edition Starter Pack + 4 x Professional 1 Additional CPU Socket licenses

Or

Enterprise Edition: 1 x Enterprise Edition Starter Pack + 2 x Enterprise 1 Additional CPU Socket licenses

To upgrade from the Professional Edition to the Enterprise Edition, you must purchase both the starter pack upgrade and (if you have more than 6 CPU sockets) the appropriate number of CPU socket upgrades. The upgrade includes the 2 additional CPU sockets provided by the Enterprise Edition Starter Pack.
