HPE StoreFront Manager for Microsoft provides a comprehensive integration of HPE Storage with Microsoft System Center. It enables the customers to manage HPE Storage running in Microsoft environment with single pane-of-glass view to the events/alerts, capacity monitoring and detailed VM level information. It consists of two products -

1. HPE Storage Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
2. HPE Storage UI add-in for System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)

HPE Storage Management Pack for Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

It provides seamless integration with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager by -

• Integrating predefined discovery and state monitoring policies,
• Event processing rules and tasks, and
• Diagram and topology views for HPE Storage

This comprehensive integration solution allows administrators to proactively streamline IT operations and increase systems availability by monitoring Microsoft Windows environments and HPE Storage products through a common Microsoft System Center Operation Manager console. It complements the Management Packs for ProLiant and Integrity servers-and also complements HPE Systems Insight Manager tools to ensure that Hewlett Packard Enterprise customers have the broadest collection of capabilities when deploying a systems management infrastructure for your Hewlett Packard Enterprise servers and storage.

Unified Storage management

The HPE Management Pack is plug-in for System Center uniquely provides unified information and management for HPE Storage, in a System Center environment. Information about the corresponding HPE Storage alerts is displays with appropriate severity in folders of the System Center Monitoring panel located on the left-hand side of the console, along with appropriate contextual description.

HPE Storage UI Add-in for Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)

HPE Storage UI add-in for System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) enables enhanced integration of SCVMM and HPE Storage providing our customers a single pane-of-glass monitoring view of physical, virtual and cloud environments. It automates HPE Storage management and provides an integrated view of VMs and associated storage resources.

HPE Storage UI Add-in provides the following –

• Provides dashboard info of VMs, Hosts, LUNs, CPGs, HDDs and their communication protocols
• Provides context sensitive in-depth info of volumes and their business copies
• Deployment of multiple HPE StoreVirtual Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) in Microsoft Hyper-V environment
• HPE Storage cluster support for high-availability
• Support for VMware ESX to monitor configuration and infrastructure details

HPE Storage also provides complete integration to enable all Storage Management functionality provided by Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) via SMI-S providers. This includes:

• Storage Discovery - Automatically discover local and remote storage, including storage arrays, pools, and logical units (storage volumes or logical unit numbers (LUNs), disks, volumes, and virtual disks)
• Storage Classification - Classify discovered storage using friendly descriptive names to create and expose a simplified storage model
• Storage Provisioning - Create new logical units from available capacity for provisioning to a Hyper-V host or cluster.
• Storage Allocation - Allocate available storage pools and LUNs to defined host groups that can represent business groups, locations, etc.
