HPE StoreFront Analytics for VMware Software

The HPE StoreFront Analytics software, an adapter for vRealize Operations Manager from VMware, relates virtual machines and datastores to volumes from HPE 3PAR StoreServ and StoreVirtual storage systems. Administrators using HPE StoreFront Analytics are able to visualize and analyze data from their HPE 3PAR StoreServ or StoreVirtual storage array directly within vRealize Operations Manager.
HPE StoreFront Analytics for VMware vRealize Operations Manager installs directly as an adapter extension. It provides basic array health information at no charge, but requires a license for advanced key performance metrics after 60 days evaluation. StoreFront Analytics provides preconfigured dashboards for HPE 3PAR StoreServ and StoreVirtual that allow the vSphere administrator to easily get storage capacity information, optimize their HPE storage systems and enable comprehensive troubleshooting scenarios. These clear relationships between Virtual Machines, datastores, and storage increase the vSphere administrator's productivity, and ability to ensure outstanding quality of service.

HPE StoreFront Analytics is distributed as a management pack that installs directly in VMware vRealize Operations Manager.

Key Features and Benefits:

• Monitors health, performance, and capacity for HPE 3PAR StoreServ and StoreVirtual components including volumes, CPGs, storage systems, controllers, drive cages, disk drives, ports, and fans.
• Provides a visual mapping from virtual machines and datastores to HPE storage components, enabling administrators to quickly identify health, workload, and capacity problems impacting the performance of virtual machines.
• Administrators can quickly identify storage resources that need attention. Identify bottlenecks based on response time. Identify resource hogs based on capacity utilization, IOPS, or throughput.
• Provides preconfigured dashboards focused on monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis. The user can also create their own dashboards customized for their environment using HPE StoreFront Analytics provided metrics.
• VMware vRealize Operations Manager provides advanced capacity planning using the HPE StoreFront Analytics data.

The HPE StoreFront Analytics for VMware vRealize Operations Manager provides the user with several ways to access storage information based on the selected VMware object in the user interface. The provided dashboards also allow the user to access different views of the detailed storage information for the selected object(s):

• HPE Storage Monitoring: This dashboard provides summary and detailed information about the HPE storage deployed in the VMware environment. Included is summary information describing HPE storage system health, the CPG capacity information, top 10 resource utilization objects and HPE storage system alerts.
• HPE Storage Troubleshooting: Provides summary and detailed information about VMs and how they map to HPE storage volumes, pools, disks and ports. Included are metric graphs for key performance metrics such as IOPS and bandwidth which are displayed in relation to the selected object (such as port or volume) of the VMs to volume dependency graph.
• HPE Storage Performance: This dashboard provides performance metrics which are collected from the storage system such as Top 5 IOPS for ports, volumes, disks and management groups.

The views are provided as easy to use dashboards and customers can utilize vCOPS widgets to configure their own specialized views based on HPE 3PAR StoreServ and StoreVirtual metrics.

Simplified Installation, Licensing, and Support

The HPE StoreFront Analytics for VMware vRealize Operations Manager software is available from software depot at hp.com. The downloaded installation package includes instructions on how to install it and has an instant on license so customers can use the software right away.

Licenses for StoreFront Analytics 2.1 will work with 3.0. No upgrade of licenses is needed.
