HP UPS Network Module

The new HP UPS Network Module allows an HP Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) to be directly connected to the network for remote monitoring and management of either a single UPS, or two UPSs in a redundant configuration. The UPS Network Module works with the HP Power Protector clients and can be configured to send alert traps to HP Systems Insight Manager and other SNMP management programs or used as a standalone management system. This flexibility enables you to monitor and manage UPSs through the network. To facilitate day-to-day maintenance tasks, the embedded management software provides detailed system logs.

HP UPS Network Module

The HP UPS Network Module enables you to configure, monitor and manage power environments through comprehensive control of individual HP UPSs.

Access the management module:

• Remotely through a Web browser
• Locally through a terminal emulation program

The UPS Network Module can be configured to send alert traps to HP Systems Insight Manager and other SNMP management programs or used as a standalone management system. This flexibility enables you to monitor and manage the UPS through the network connector; the serial connector located on the front of the management module is only used for configuration. To facilitate day-to-day maintenance tasks, the firmware provides detailed system logs.

Highlights

Use HP Systems Insight Manager to:

• Discover HP UPS Network Modules. As part of the discovery process, HP SIM can detect an installed HP UPS Management Card the web interface for the discovered module can be launched from the HPSIM Servers Links tab.
• Receive SNMP traps from the management module. The module can send event-based traps to HPSIM that include a URL in the trap. This functionality enables administrators to easily launch the web interface of the module in context. For example, if the management module detects an alarm condition, the module can send a trap to HP SIM with an attached hyperlink that routes users directly to the Overview screen for the attached UPS.
  • Conveniently launch the management module web interface from within HP SIM. Tools menu-Users can add a link to the web interface on the HP SIM Tools menu using a tools definition file.
  • Event-based trap-A URL is included in each trap to link directly from HP SIM to the Overview screen for the specific device for which the trap was sent.

Security

• Control functions on the UPS Network Module can only be accessed using an Administrator password, which should be kept properly secured.
• Browsing to the UPS Network module can be done using SSL, which encrypts the data between the browser and management module. The module is supported by a 128-bit encryption level. SSL also provides authentication of the management module by means of its digital certificate. Securely importing this certificate must be done to ensure the identification of the management module.

HP will provide HP-supported replacement parts and materials necessary to maintain the covered hardware product in operating condition, including parts and materials for available and recommended engineering improvements. Supplies and consumable parts will not be provided as part of this service; standard warranty terms and conditions apply. Parts and components that have exceeded their maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum usage limitations as set forth in the manufacturer's operating manual or the technical product data sheet will not be provided, repaired or replaced as part of this service.

Coverage

For ProLiant servers and storage systems, this service covers HP-branded hardware options qualified for the server, purchased at the same time or afterward, internal to the enclosure, as well as external monitors up to 22" and tower UPS products; these items will be covered at the same service level and for the same coverage period as the server unless the maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum usage limitation has been exceeded. Coverage of the UPS battery is not included; standard warranty terms and conditions apply.

The defective media retention service feature option applies only to Disk or eligible SSD/Flash Drives replaced by HP due to malfunction. It does not apply to any exchange of Disk or SSD/Flash Drives that have not failed. SSD/Flash Drives that are specified by HP as consumable parts and/or that have exceeded maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum usage limit as set forth in the manufacturer's operating manual or the technical data sheet are not eligible for the defective media retention service feature option.
