Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2

Windows Server 2012 R2 captures Microsoft's experience of delivering global-scale cloud services to provide an enterprise-class server and cloud platform. It lets you optimize performance for your most important workloads and helps to protect against service outages with robust recovery options. It reduces complexity and cost with comprehensive automation plus storage and networking virtualization solutions based on industry-standard hardware. It lets you build, run, and scale applications that can move between your datacenter and the cloud, and allows you to provide your users with flexible remote access from virtually anywhere and any device while helping to protect corporate information.

Important: HPE Windows Server OEM Not Pre-Installed "NPI" and Reseller Option Kit "ROK" part numbers are compatible with both UEFI boot mode and Legacy boot mode, in other words, Windows Server NPI and ROK part numbers are compatible with Gen9, Gen8 and previous Servers.

Adding Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition Not Pre-Installed, English only, recommended for users that will install the OS and Applications without Internet Connection (e.g. .Net 3.5). The Multi-Language SKU strongly recommends internet connectivity while installing the OS and Applications.
Adding new Windows Server Standard Additional License SKUs with expanded licensing rights (1) available for purchase after the Server Sale (APOS) to anyone who has already purchased a Base OS License from Hewlett Packard Enterprise and (2) the ability to reassign the rights of the Windows Server 2012 Standard Additional License to another server with a Base License.

Base License Required: Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2 Standard.

Introducing new Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Part Numbers with reassignment licensing rights. These Part Numbers must be sold with a new ProLiant Server and are a great option as they allow customers to reassign the OS license to another server for any reason (hardware failure, maintenance, upgrade, etc.). The server OS license may be reassigned by an end user to a different physical server no more than once every 90 days. The COA is affixed to a license card which is the end user’s proof of license for the purpose of exercising the reassignment license rights. Important: Hewlett Packard Enterprise cannot provide downgrade media or keys for Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter with reassignment rights part numbers per Microsoft policy. Downgrade rights for these part numbers are limited to media and keys the customer already owns.

If not properly configured, the software will generate warnings to correct the configuration.
