Product overview

HPE Cloud Network Manager is a key component of HPE Cloud-Managed Networking solution, which includes HPE Cloud-Managed access points that self-organize into wireless LANs (WLANs) clusters transparently managed by a lead access point (AP) with embedded controller functionality. With the HPE Cloud-Managed Networking solution, all user control and data traffic stay local within the WLAN, with network management information going to HPE Cloud Network Manager in the cloud. This design means you have no management appliances to install and maintain, locally or in the datacenter, which keeps costs low. Plus, your network stays available, since you have all the functionality you need locally, with no dependence on WAN links. HPE Cloud Network Manager, designed as a software-as-a-service subscription in the cloud, gives you streamlined management for multiple HPE Cloud-Managed networks.

Features and benefits

Management

  • Always-on service with a redundant cloud architecture
HPE Cloud Network Manager (CNM) is hosted in multiple data centers around the world to provide a redundant cloud architecture. HPE CNM uses a secure HTTPS connection with strong mutual authentication using certificates for all communication with HPE 300 series access points. The communication between the CNM and access point use very small amount of WAN bandwidth and access points continue to function in case of WAN-link failures
  • Simplified deployment
HPE CNM offers flexible one-click firmware upgrades for all APs or a group of APs, using a cloud-hosted firmware server. It simplifies configuration by applying consistent configurations and firmware to a group of APs. You can create one configuration and push it out to all the APs in the same group, significantly reducing the time it takes to deploy the access points. Adding new AP to your network is just as easy as dragging the new AP in the group
  • Monitoring dashboard
HPE CNM dashboard enables quick views of the health of the network, APs, connected devices, and alerts. It provides detailed views of the AP status and client data and with a Google map that shows where all you AP locations
  • AP and client troubleshooting
HPE CNM provides an overview of any AP or client that may need attention. You can search by AP name, MAC address or serial number and then click on the device to drill down for more detailed information. You can get details on connected clients, memory usage and firmware version of the AP and to track individual wireless client data, like signal strength, speed, association history, authentication and device type to help you troubleshoot quickly.
  • Reporting
HPE CNM stores the management data in the cloud data warehouse and this historical data can be used to generate reports that provide snapshot of network summary and security. Reports like the Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance which documents proper security scanning is enforced can be viewed online, in email or export to PDF format
