Hortonworks Data Platform from HPE

Hortonworks merged with Cloudera in January 2019.  HPE will continue to maintain the Hortonworks brand until it is officially modified by Cloudera.

Hortonworks Apache Hadoop subscriptions can be purchased directly through Hewlett Packard Enterprise and together with HPE Big Data software products.

Hortonworks is a major contributor to Apache Hadoop and is focused on further accelerating the development and adoption of Apache Hadoop by making the software more robust and easier to consume for enterprises and more open and extensible for solution providers. The Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), is a massively scalable and 100% open source platform for storing, processing and analyzing large volumes of data. It is designed to deal with data from many sources and formats in a very quick, easy and cost-effective manner. Hortonworks DataFlow (HDF) is the first integrated platform that solves the real time challenges of collecting and transporting data from many sources and provides interactive command and control of live flows with full and automated data provenance. HDF is powered by Apache NiFi.

• Hadoop support from the source: Hortonworks support is backed by the leading contributors to Apache Hadoop open source projects. Hortonworks engineers have contributed more than half of all code to core Apache Hadoop and are uniquely qualified to address technical issues. L1-L3 Support are handled by Hortonworks.
  
• Full life-cycle support available: Hortonworks support is not limited to production support only. Packages enable customer success at every step in the lifecycle including development and proof-of-concept stages as well.

SLA Definitions of Severity

• Severity 1, Critical: Production system is down or severely impacted such that routine operation is impossible
• Severity 2, High: Production issue where the system is functioning but in degraded or restricted capacity
• Severity 3, Medium: Production issue where minor functionality is impacted or a development issue
• Severity 4, Low: Request for information with no impact to business operations

Licensing and Media Options

Definitions and support licensing model

Hortonworks Support is sold as a yearly subscription for 4 Nodes or 50 TB or 15 Moonshot Cartridges

Node means, a server or virtual machine running the software

• A server is a single piece of hardware that runs the software.  A hardware partition or blade is considered a separate hardware system.
• A virtual machine is a software container that can run its own operating system and execute applications like a single physical machine
  
  

TB, means the total aggregate storage space, also known as raw capacity across all nodes in the cluster; disk or flash storage

Support Contact, A designated person within the customer who will interact with Hortonworks to submitted support cases.

Moonshot Cartridge, the individual computing unit that populates a full Moonshot chassis/enclosure (for example 45 Moonshot Cartridges fill a single Moonshot chassis).

Notes: The number of Support Contacts allowed is determined based on the number of support subscriptions purchased: # of HDP Support Subscriptions

Notes:

- Hewlett Packard Enterprise offers email and paper fulfillment. The email part numbers are listed.  The paper part numbers are the same but end with "A" instead of an "AAE". Email fulfillment ships in days while paper fulfillment ships in weeks.

- These part numbers can be used to purchase multiple licenses with a single activation key. Customer will receive an emailed entitlement certificate. The license entitlement certificate must be redeemed online in order to obtain a license key.
