HPE Performance Software Portfolio: Intel® Parallel Studio XE 

Intel Parallel Studio XE is a software development suite that helps boost application performance by taking advantage of the processor core count and vector register width available in Intel® Xeon® processors, Intel® Xeon Phi^TM processors, and other compatible processors. Intel Parallel Studio XE simplifies the design, development, debugging and tuning of parallel code. The portfolio of software enables high performance computing (HPC), machine learning, and data analysis application engineers to productively increase performance on HPE hardware. The Intel Parallel Studio XE tools integrate directly into an organization's development environment, allowing engineers to leverage existing code.

Intel Parallel Studio XE is available in the following distributions: 

• Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition: The Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition helps engineers build faster code with the help of compilers, performance libraries and high-performance Python packages, all in an integrated distribution package. Users experience better performance with a simple recompile using standards-driven C++ and Fortran compilers, along with the ability to drop advanced libraries right into their code. The Composer Edition also simplifies adding parallelism with built-in, intuitive, parallel models and vectorization support.   
• Intel Parallel Studio XE Professional Edition: The Intel Parallel Studio Professional Edition includes the Composer Edition as well as Intel Advisor, a vectorization and threading design tool that makes it easier to add parallelism to code. The Professional Edition also includes Intel VTune Amplifier XE (also offered as a standalone product; please see below) and Intel Inspector, an advanced memory and threading debugger.

• Intel Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition: The Intel Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition includes the Professional Edition (which brings together the Composer Edition and analysis tools) and adds a message passing interface (MPI) cluster communications library, MPI error checking and tuning, and a cluster diagnostic expert system. The Cluster Edition provides an even more robust toolset for engineers. Users have the ability to accelerate performance on Intel architecture-based clusters with multiple fabric flexibility, profile MPI application performance and verify cluster components continue to work together throughout the cluster lifecycle. 
• Intel® VTune^TM Amplifier XE: Intel VTune Amplifier XE allows users to tune applications for scalable multicore performance. Engineers can quickly locate code using an immense amount of CPU time with hotspot analysis. Because the software tunes threading with locks and waits analysis, Intel VTune Amplifier XE detects the common cause of slow performance in parallel programs. It determines which programs are waiting too long on a lock while the cores are underutilized during the wait. Intel VTune Amplifier XE also allows users to see the cause of OpenMP inefficiencies sorted by potential impact, and optimize multi-rank hybrid MPI/ OpenMP by profiling MPI ranks selected in the Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector.

Intel Parallel Studio XE is available for download. Upon order delivery, customers will receive an entitlement certificate, which includes a URL to the Intel Registration Site and additional license information. Customers will need to visit the Intel Registration Site to register their purchase and retrieve their license key.

After retrieving their license key, customers will need to visit the specified website to download the software and complete their support setup.

Customers may also download user guides and other documentation at the Intel Developer Zone.

Intel Parallel Studio XE is operational on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 and 7; SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 and 12; Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and 16.04 LTS; Debian 7.0 and 8.0; and Windows Server 2008-2012.

Hardware Compatibility

Intel Parallel Studio XE is supported on the following Gen9 and Gen10 HPE systems:

• HPE Apollo systems, including Apollo 2000, 6000 and 6500
• HPE SGI 8600 system
• HPE Apollo pc40, Apollo sx40 and Apollo kl20 systems
• HPE ProLiant servers, including the DL server line

Support for Intel Parallel Studio XE is direct-to-vendor. Information about support processes will be provided at the point of providing a license key to Intel.

Parts and Materials

Hewlett Packard Enterprise will provide HPE-supported replacement parts and materials necessary to maintain the covered hardware product in operating condition, including parts and materials for available and recommended engineering improvements.

Parts and components that have reached their maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum usage limitations as set forth in the manufacturer's operating manual, product quick-specs, or the technical product data sheet will not be provided, repaired, or replaced as part of these services.

The defective media retention service feature option applies only to Disk or eligible SSD/Flash Drives replaced by Hewlett Packard Enterprise due to malfunction.
