NFV Platform Operations Suite (NPOS):

Every NFV System Starter Kit ships with NPOS software SKU.  This is a purpose-built software package designed to enhance operations and management of the NFV System.  NPOS is delivered as part of the NFV System software stack along with Virtual Infrastructure Management (VIM) software and the Physical Infrastructure Management (PIM) software.

How to Order

How to order HPE NFV System v1.4

Ordering Guidelines for HPE NFV System v1.4

The HPE NFV System can be ordered by your local account representative through the Watson/SBW tool. All the Kits listed in the table below are setup in the Watson/SBW tool. The Kits will come preinstalled with all the hardware, cabling, and software components.

Account teams will be required to fill out an online customer intent document (CID) to capture the relevant system configuration details. This CID information (IP addressing scheme, vlans, etc.) will be utilized to pre-configure the NFV System components as part of our automated install procedure in the factory. It is essential to have this step completed correctly as soon as the order is placed in order to ensure that order is processed by factory.

Customers will be delivered the NFV System pre-configured on-site to ensure easy integration into existing network environments.

The NFV System v1.4 Kits are listed below:

  • Starter Kits: Includes Control plane, Compute plane and Storage plane elements with associated networking
  • Compute Kits: Include Compute nodes only with associated networking
  • Storage Kits: Includes storage nodes only with associated networking

How to order HPE NFV System:

Guidance: Please consult with regional HPE NFV Business Development Leads and/or HPE NFV System PLMs for assistance with orders for NFV System.

Order creation is initiated through the WATSON/SBW tool.

Step 1: Please select the NFV system v1.4 kit option from the Converged Systems selections.

Step 2: Ensure HPE TS Support lead in engaged to determine the right support services; including NFV Solution Support required for the order. TSS will be required to authorize the release of order, therefore engage early.

Step 3: Please select the Starter Kit configuration required - Enclosure based or Rackmount based.

Step 4: Choose power supply for the rack based on the onsite power configurations. Please refer to section xx for further details on options available with the 

Step 5: Select the Virtual Infrastructure Management (VIM) solution required for configurations. Options with NFV System v1.4 are

  • HPE Helion Carrier Grade
  • HPE Red Hat OpenStack Platform

For HPE Helion Carrier Grade Option continue with Step 6a

For HPE Red Hat Openstack Platform continue with Step 6b 

Step 6a: The HPE HCG option - select the HPE HCG Ceph Option for Storage on Starter Kit and select the number of drives and capacity required for storage cluster in the Starter Kit. 

Recommendations:

Min: 5 x 1.2 TB/1.8 TB HDDs

Max: 10 x 1.2 TB/1.8 TB HDDs

Default (recommended):  10 x 1.2 TB HDDs

Step 7a: For Enclosure Starter Kit please select the number of enclosures required 1 or 2.

NOTE:

  • 1 enclosure starter kit system can accommodate up to 10 control servers for 500 compute node support
  • 2 enclosure starter kit system can accommodate up to 4 control servers for 200 compute node support

Step 8a: Choose the number of compute nodes anticipated for the deployments.

NOTE: Every 100 nodes requires additional HCG region hosted on 2 physical control servers.

Step 9a: Select if Centralized logging servers are required for this system

NOTE: These are 2 additional physical servers based on ELK mechanism that consolidates logs from the VIM and PIM components in the NFV system in a central location.

For HPE Red Hat OpenStack Platform Option:

Step 6b: Choose the technology for storage cluster on the Starter Kit - choose between HPE VSA or HPE RedHat Ceph Solution. Select the number of drives and capacity required for storage cluster in the Starter Kit. 

Recommendations for VSA and Ceph:

Min: 5 x 1.2 /1.8 TB HDDs

Max (Non-NEBS): 22 x 1.2/1.8 TB HDDs

Max (NEBS): 14 x 1.2/1.8 TB HDDs

Default (recommended): 12 x 1.2 TB HDDs

Step 7b: For Enclosure Starter Kit please select the number of enclosures required 1 or 2.

NOTE: In the case of Red Hat OpenStack platform we should anticipate

Step 8b: Select if Centralized logging servers are required for this system

NOTE: These are 2 additional physical servers based on ELK mechanism that consolidates logs from the VIM and PIM components in the NFV system in a central location.

Step 10: In case of Enclosure Starter Kit, please select number of compute blades required.

NOTE: Rackmount starter kit comes with a fixed configuration of 16 servers

Step 11:  Choose the memory required for Compute nodes

Step 12: Verify and Submit order.

The Watson tool will require manual override from Technology Services team to add in the appropriate service SKU for your NFV System. Please engage with your regional TS contact to select the appropriate services. 

Uplinks to datacenter network: The kits do not include uplink cables/transceivers. Please order these separately depending on the site requirements. For additional information please refer to the links below.

Factory Express

Service

 

With all HPE NFV v1.4 Kits, the following services are included by default as part of the Factory Express Service:

  • Factory services to rack, cable and configure the infrastructure
  • Install, activate, and configure firmware & software for the entire solution being purchased.
  • Coordinate hand-off to onsite network integration teams

 

HPE NFV System implementation Service (onsite), plus additional services

In addition HPE recommends additional Technical Services for complex integration or implementation services and HPE Education Services (for customer training and education)

Warranty & Support

Warranty services

The HPE NFV System includes the standard warranty of the individual Hewlett Packard Enterprise hardware and software components from the Hewlett Packard Enterprise portfolio.

 

Minimum warranty terms:

  • HPE NFV System hardware: All components of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise System hardware will have a minimum warranty for period of one year for all the hardware components in the system.
  • HPE NFV System software: All component of Hewlett Packard Enterprise System software will have a 90-day limited warranty.

- The Hewlett Packard Enterprise branded software materially conforms to its specifications, if any, and is free of malware at the time of delivery. If you notify Hewlett Packard Enterprise within 90 days of delivery of non-conformance to this warranty, Hewlett Packard Enterprise will replace your copy.

 

Hewlett Packard Enterprise does not warrant that the operation of software will be uninterrupted or error free, or that software will operate in hardware and software combinations other than as authorized by Hewlett Packard Enterprise in the Supporting Material. To the extent permitted by law, Hewlett Packard Enterprise disclaims all other warranties. 

The hardware warranty support provided for HPE NFV System v1.4 Kits is three-year parts and onsite with a targeted response time of 1 business day. Software warranty is based on the software components ordered as part of the system as follows:

 

  • HPE OneView - Three-years 24x7 support and updates with two-hour response
  • HPE Helion OpenStack Carrier Grade and Ceph - Three-years 24x7 support and updates with two-hour response
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Ceph - Three years 24x7 Support
  • HPE VSA - Three-years 24x7 support and updates with two-hour response.
  • HPE 3PAR - Three-years 24x7 support and updates with two-hour response.

 

The HPE NFV System v1.4 Kit is covered by a global limited warranty and supported by HPE Services. Hardware diagnostic support and repair is available for three-years from date of purchase. Support for software and initial setup is available for 90 days from date of purchase. Additional support may be covered under the warranty or available for an additional fee.

 


HPE NFV System Support

In addition to the standard warranty included with the HPE NFV System v1.4 Kits, Hewlett Packard Enterprise offers “uplift” HPE Support Packs and contractual services that extend and enhance the warranty service period to support the entire system.

 

Recommended services for the HPE NFV System v1.4 kits are Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s 3 or 5year Foundation Care CTR Service, which provides a six-hour Call to Repair onsite service for all hardware components, and Foundation Care 24x7 Service for software components that includes a two-hour response. 

  • For true Solutions Support service, Hewlett Packard Enterprise highly recommends the NFV Solution Support service, which provides 24x7 hardware and software support delivered by a dedicated support team with enhanced call handling and response times and additional proactive services, including an assigned account team. Contact HPE Services for further details on NFV Solution Support services.
