Standard Features

HPE Helion CloudSystem Enterprise Benefits

Reduce risk, while protecting investments

Supporting an ever wide range of operating systems, tools, hypervisors and open source technologies, Helion CloudSystem helps you avoid vendor lock-in. Optimized to run on HPE ConvergedSystem infrastructure, provides improved performance and ensures reliability. Helion CloudSystem Enterprise supports the Helion Matrix Operating Environment as well as Helion CloudSystem Foundation resource providers providing customers investment protection and choice. In addition, Helion CloudSystem works easily with both Hewlett Packard Enterprise and non- Hewlett Packard Enterprise, third-party hardware, so you can leverage your prior investments.

Speed time-to-value

Building on the ConvergedSystem model, Helion CloudSystem offers an easier on-ramp to the cloud: so you can order and receive it quickly as a pre-configured solution. With Helion CloudSystem Enterprise software, you can also move your existing virtual environment to cloud in hours, instead of days or weeks.

Enterprise-class services lifecycle management for hybrid cloud services

Helion CloudSystem Enterprise provides you with one hybrid cloud management platform to manage all your cloud services - existing services in your own cloud, new services you choose to build with Helion CloudSystem Foundation, and services you get from public clouds. Expanded support for bursting to public clouds includes, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise PartnerOne service providers. Helion CloudSystem Enterprise is designed to use the same management practices for your traditional and cloud environments.

Open and expandable

Helion CloudSystem is built on HPE Helion OpenStack - HP's enterprise-grade OpenStack® implementation. Now, you'll benefit from consistent, open APIs for hybrid cloud integration and portability; flexible, plug-in technology to accelerate time-to-market; a dynamic community and ecosystem; and attractive economies of scale.

Continuous availability

Zerto Virtual Replication (ZVR), is a hypervisor-based, low latency, continuous data replication solution for VMware environments,. It allows organizations to architect truly resilient virtualized applications in cloud environments. It is different from any other disaster recovery solution because it has the fastest and most efficient replication combined with fully automated failover, failback and non-disruptive DR testing for production workloads. It is the foundation for any cloud, public, private, or hybrid as it is the only solution that can provide a single view of data and applications and protect them across multiple environments.

Simple, Automated Disaster Recovery

When an application or the entire cloud management platform is down, you have nothing to worry about as the process is executed in just a few clicks. ZVR and CSrecover help you setup the entire recovery process ahead of time including boot order, ensuring a consistent, repeatable recovery process that will execute in your time of need. Customers have been able to recover an application in just a few minutes and an entire data center in less than an hour.

Fast Migrations

With ZVR, you can quickly migrate a workload from your older hardware to an HPE CloudSystem 10 quickly so you can leverage your new investment faster and realize all the benefits across your infrastructure. Customers have reduced their migration times from weeks and months to just days and in some cases hours.

Recovery from any disaster or disruption

Power outages, natural disasters, logical corruptions and ransomware can take down a VM, application or a data center. Recovery from logical corruptions and ransomware can be especially challenging as the recovery point that is available is usually the most recent which includes the corruption. ZVR delivers continuous data protection with the journal, the history of changes and I/O for the VMs and applications in the protected environment. You can recover the environment seconds before a patch is applied, a ransomware attack or a logical corruption. This ensures no productivity is lost and work does not need to be redone.

Key Product Features and Usage Scenarios

More flexible and portable service designs

Portable service design simplifies your service catalog, which avoids design sprawl. A new OpenStack resource provider using OpenStack APIs to support OpenStack-based distributions is delivered out of the box.  This resource provider can support Helion CloudSystem Foundation, Helion OpenStack, and even third-party OpenStack compatible clouds with automatic identity management and Keystone integration.

Advanced cloud features such as infrastructure and application services for multi-tier architecture

With the topology designer in HPE Cloud Service Automation (CSA), Helion CloudSystem Enterprise allows you to more easily provision applications services on top of the infrastructure design. This can be done through support for tools like Chef, Puppet and Server Automation. If you have Docker in your environment, you can even specify the Docker file to host on a Docker server on the topology designer.

Manage multiple OpenStack pools across geos or datacenters

Enable one design to be provisioned on different clouds and make the design portable with subscription time selection of resources, environment and projects. For example, Helion CloudSystem Enterprise can manage two or three Helion CloudSystem Foundation instances in different locations to support remote offices.

Expanded support of Physical server provisioning via HPE OneView integration

Leverage OneView profiles to create physical server service design in HPE CSA's service designer.

Built on Helion OpenStack

Helion CloudSystem Enterprise is built on Hewlett Packard Enterprise's enterprise-grade distribution of OpenStack technology: Helion OpenStack. Through OpenStack API calls, customers can manage their OpenStack-based clouds - all fully compatible with OpenStack technology. Nova, Cinder, Neutron, Glance, Keystone, Heat, and Horizon are examples of OpenStack projects included in Helion CloudSystem 10.0.

Continued support for  Matrix Operating Environment in CloudSystem Enterprise 10.0

Helion CloudSystem Enterprise continues to support Matrix Operating Environment (OE) as a resource provider. Cloud services previously created and managed by existing Matrix OE deployments will be preserved and easily transitioned to Helion CloudSystem Enterprise 10.0 environments, providing investment protection and business continuity. Also includes integrated capacity planning, disaster recovery, and bursting to public clouds. The capacity planning tool allows you to continually analyze server capacity and power use, and simulates various workload scenarios, so you can choose the one that best meets your business needs. Matrix recovery management lets you move workloads to other servers or sites with a simple mouse click, improving recovery time up to 80 percent or more. Core capabilities of Matrix recovery management include failover and recovery for both physical and virtual environments; integration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise EVA and XP storage data replication solutions; and integration with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environments for HPE ProLiant Servers.

Manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) workloads repatriated to a private cloud

Address data sovereignty requirements, standardize on design patterns,  reduce costs, or improve performance of applications running in AWS by migrating applications to an AWS-compatible private cloud, without rewriting the application. Customers have the capability, through integration with Helion Eucalyptus, to manage workloads that are easily staged as a resource provider through HPE CSA using REST APIs.

GUI-based, self-service portal for service lifecycle management

HPE CSA adds the ability to orchestrate through a self-service marketplace portal, allows both easier service lifecycle management and for IT consumers to request cloud services versus a more programmatic, command line approach.

Hypervisor-based replication

Always-on block-level replication for VMware vSphere. All VMs assigned to an ESXi host get replicated
