What's included in the HPE Composable Rack full solution: 1-18 logical solution 'racks', each with:

• 2 HPE FM 3180 or FM 3132Q Composable Fabric Connectivity Modules

- Each HPE FM 3180 or FM 3132Q connectivity module is sold with a base switch management license (3 or 5 year term) which activates all uplink and fabric ports (server access ports are licensed separately by server)

• A 48-port 1G Aruba switch for HPE iLO aggregation
• 4-40 total supported servers (per connectivity module pair)

- 1 HPE 631FLR-SFP28 Dual-port 25G FlexLOM or 1 HPE 640FLR-SFP28 Dual-port 25G FlexLOM is required in each HPE server (no other NICs are allowed)

- Broad server configuration flexibility across chassis, CPU, memory, HDD/SSD, Fibre-Channel HBA, etc. to match use-case or customer need, including all published vSAN ReadyNode configurations for HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 and DL380 Gen10 servers.

- Any mix or combination of supported HPE server models is allowed

- HPE servers may be deployed in adjacent racks due to rack power density limitations or other reasons to maximize available 40x server access ports on each pair of connectivity modules. Longer cables may be required for servers not deployed in the same physical rack as the connectivity modules.

- Purchase of physical racks and rack infrastructure is optional

- Each HPE server sold with HPE Composable Rack software (3-year or 5- year term) which includes all HPE licensing needed to connect that server to the HPE Composable Fabric and be managed as an integrated solution by HPE OneView. For the HPE DX360 Gen10 and DX380 Gen10 servers a HPE Composable Rack software license is available without HPE iLO Advanced license (as iLO Advanced license is already included with the HPE DX360 and DX380 Gen10 server models)

- When server racks are ordered with the solution, the customer has the option to have the HPE servers on the order physically installed and shipped in the rack.

• When ordered as a solution, all necessary network transceivers/cables; Depending on placement of HPE servers, longer cables should be ordered when necessary.
• When ordered as a full solution HPE Proactive Care support is included, and optional HPE Pointnext deployment services are available.
• HPE InfoSight may be used with all HPE servers in the solution (no additional fee)
• An HPE FM 1006 Composable Fabric Passive Optical Interconnect Module (and associated cables) is included when two or three pair of connectivity modules are ordered. Additional HPE FM 1006 Composable Fabric Interconnect Modules are included, as needed, when additional pairs of connectivity modules are ordered.
• All third-party software and/or operating systems may either be purchased with the solution or purchased separately. Customers who purchase operating systems with servers in the solution may optionally add a service to install the operating system on the servers during deployment.
• Customer must have an existing available management server/cluster running VMware®, RHEL, or Microsoft® Server that can host the HPE OneView and associated solution management software. If an existing management host server/cluster is not available, one will need to be purchased separately.

HPE Composable Rack software

Every HPE server purchased with the HPE Composable Rack solution will include the HPE Composable Rack software which is licensed to manage the solution through HPE OneView, which includes Composable Fabric Manager, with value-added solution integration features such as:

• Auto-discovery of the HPE Composable Fabric
• Network connection status and continuous network cable validation
• HPE server profile templates with network connections and link aggregation groups for all supported HPE servers.
• Simplified end-to-end network provisioning enables fast and easy cloud scalability
• End-to-end host view with visualization of physical & virtual network connections
• Powerful fabric utilization visualization tools and dynamic fabric controls to remediate application throughput bottlenecks
  
  

HPE Composable Fabric

Your legacy network was not designed to handle big data, scale-out applications, or hyperconvergence. HPE Composable Fabric delivers a software-defined networking fabric purpose-built for workload-driven performance and scale. The HPE Composable Fabric is included with every HPE Composable Rack solution. The HPE Composable Fabric delivers a powerful software-defined networking experience, all managed through HPE OneView, which includes Composable Fabric Manager. Each solution can include up to 6 redundant pairs of HPE FM 3180 top-of-rack connectivity modules, with each pair supporting up to 40 connected HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10, DL380 Gen10, DL560 Gen10, DX360 Gen10, and/or DX380 Gen10 servers, for a solution maximum of 240 HPE ProLiant servers. For solutions with more than one redundant pair of HPE FM 3180 modules, a HPE FM 1006 Composable Fabric interconnect module will also be provided. A second HPE FM 1006 Composable Fabric Interconnect Module is included when more than 3 pair of HPE FM 3180 modules are ordered.

As part of the HPE Composable Rack solution, HPE Pointnext offers optional deployment and integration Services and coordinates the installation, configuration, integration and verification of your new solution.

After the installation of hardware and software, HPE Pointnext works with you remotely to further deploy and integrate the HPE Composable Rack solution into your network environment. In addition, HPE service specialists also work with you to provide valuable knowledge transfer that can help you to quickly take ownership of your new HPE Composable Rack solution and the unique value that the solution brings.

The services are designed to help you quickly leverage the features and benefits of HPE Composable Rack and can help you to accelerate the time to value of the HPE Composable Rack solution.

When the HPE Composable Rack licenses are purchased separately, along with the associated HPE Composable Fabric components (e.g. FM 3180 connectivity modules), a mandatory basic HPE Pointnext deployment service for the HPE Composable Fabric is required. All other deployment services are optional when the solution licenses are purchased separately for new or existing HPE servers that meet the solution support matrix requirements.

HPE supports the infrastructure components for the full lifecycle of the offering.

HPE Proactive Care is the minimum required support level for HPE Composable Rack environments. It begins with providing all of the benefits of proactive monitoring and reporting (of included HPE ProLiant DL servers) along with access to Hewlett Packard Enterprise specially trained people to provide a complete solution-level support experience and put in place the fundamentals needed for stability and availability of the HPE Composable Rack environment. Proactive Care helps in problem prevention, with predictive analytics, personalized analysis with recommendations and advice paired with rapid access to technical experts to help rapidly resolve any problem. You receive an enhanced call experience with advanced technical expertise, a single point of contact for the support of all components and end-to-end case ownership.

HPE Proactive Care Advanced - 3 or 5 year HPE Proactive Care Advanced builds on HPE Proactive Care, providing additional benefits such as the assignment of a dedicated, local account support manager (ASM) for collaboration, best practices and critical event management that provides fast response and IT service restoration with incident follow-up to prevent a repeat. HPE InfoSight

HPE InfoSight for Servers may be used on the HPE servers in the HPE Composable Rack solution. HPE InfoSight for Servers combines the machine learning and predictive analytics of HPE InfoSight with the health and performance monitoring of Active Health System (AHS) and HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) to optimize performance and predict and prevent problems. HPE InfoSight for Servers nearly eliminates wasted time and headaches by transforming how infrastructure is managed and supported. AHS is like a "flight recorder" for your server that provides continuous, proactive health monitoring and recording thousands of system parameters and diagnostic telemetry data 24x7 on the server. HPE InfoSight for Servers analyzes the telemetry data from AHS to derive insights from the behaviors of the install base to provide recommendations to resolve problems and improve performance. This first release of HPE InfoSight for Servers delivers a foundational set of capabilities that will be augmented over time.

Start by determining the workloads, services you plan to host on HPE Composable Rack.  Your HPE account rep or channel partner can help guide you through the solution pre-requisites and options regarding server count, server configuration, software, deployment, network connectivity, services and support to arrive at a solution tailored to the specific needs of your business. If you want to purchase the HPE Composable Rack licenses separately, work with your HPE account rep or channel partner to ensure that the new or existing HPE servers meet the solution support matrix requirements and that the necessary HPE Composable Fabric components are also available or ordered, including the FM 3180 connectivity modules, cables, transceivers, etc.
